3. Program Philosophies and Objectives

Philosophy
The Computer Science Program aims to produce graduates that will become national ethical leaders and practitioners in the many fields of technology and computer science.

Rationale

There are many reasons for producing more Computer Scientists. The following reasons are among the most important for our country.

  1. Computers and technology are integral to our national development plans, thus requiring a large number of qualified engineers and scientists to carry them out.
  2. The demands for computer science human resource personnel are increasing in both the public and private sector and will continue to increase as more computerized technology is being deployed, but the number of institutions that can produce such qualified graduates are limited.
  3. Our nation aims to become a major producer of technology in our region rather than simply being consumers.
  4. To be able to work and compete at the international level, scientists must be able to communicate in English, which has become the global language.

Objectives

  1. To produce graduates with a high standard so that they would be able to significantly contribute to the field of computer science both professionally and academically.
  2. To produce graduates with high ethical standards and leadership skills so that they would be proud and productive members of KMUTT and the nation.
  3. To develop computer science human resource personnel for both the public and private sector that would be able to apply computer technology effectively and efficiently.
  4. To encourage and support research and development in computer science and related fields that would be beneficial to the improvement of information technology and computer science itself, as well as society and the nation as a whole.
